Merilynne Rush, MSHP, RN, BSN, has been working with families in transition since 1980 as a home birth midwife, labor and delivery nurse, hospice nurse, home funeral guide, and end-of-life doula. She owns The Dying Year and has been training, mentoring, and certifying end-of-life doulas since 2016. Merilynne holds an MS in Hospice and Palliative Studies and is a Certified Respecting Choices® 1st Steps Advance Care Planning Facilitator Trainer. She co-founded and served as first President of the National End-of-life Doula Alliance (NEDA) from 2018 - 2020, sits on the End-of-Life Doula Council of the NHPCO, and previously served on the boards of the National Home Funeral Alliance, and the Green Burial Council. She founded and co-facilitates the Ann Arbor Death Café, which has been meeting monthly since November 2012.
